The building of a new Auckland and its challenges
On Wednesday 8 November we are celebrating another year and you are warmly invited to join us.
We will start the night with an enlightening and thought-provoking talk from Simon Wilson, editor of The Spinoff, a local website devoted to culture and society in all its forms – Simon writes regularly on local body and national politics, social issues, arts, entertainment and restaurants. He is a multi-award winning journalist and former editor of Metro Magazine. Simon will speak on “Building the New City, One Community at a time”.
Auckland’s on the way to becoming a new city. Much bigger, much more diverse, with different dynamics for transport and housing, different models for retail and other business, different expectations in education and training, different ways of being a community, and different long-term challenges too. We could become a model city of the 21st century, a city bursting with opportunity for everyone who wants to live, work and play here. Do you want to do that? How? The key is community but what does that mean?
Following Simon’s talk we will give a quick review of what the Grey Lynn Business Association has accomplished over the last year and what is planned ahead. Followed by some socialising, drinks and nibbles.
