GREENING – REIMAGINING OUR PUBLIC SPACES

Noticed the colourful large painted pots at the corner of Williamson Avenue and Great North Road? The response to our urban greening project has been extremely positive with an impressive community engagement - made possible through Grey Lynn & Around.

Also special thanks to Council funding and Resene paints.

Driven by Board members Marty Steel-Brown of City Botanics and Jules Carroll, the project began with painting the pots as part of our #Artweekgreylynn outside the Grey Lynn Community Centre. A HUGE thanks to all of the volunteers that helped us.

Amiria Puia-Taylor #thepeopleweaver and her helpers painting pots all weekend at the Grey Lynn Community Centre. #ArtweekGreyLynn.

Then it was time for installation. We so appreciated the people who spent their Sunday morning helping with the installation of our painted pots and also to Postal Services Cafe that provided us all with coffee and snacks.

Now we are asking volunteers to keep on helping us look after our pots – and we have plans to extend the project – so please get in touch if you have green fingers that you are happy to apply to our public spaces! Or you are a business and you’d like to support reimagining Grey Lynn with more greening…
